A. L. Jacobs & Sons Jewelers is a full service fine jewelry operation specializing in loose diamonds in all shapes and sizes, most of which are accompanied by a laboratory report from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or the European Gemological Laboratory (EGL). It is our goal to provide a wide variety of gems and jewelry, from the traditional to the unusual and unique.

About Chris Jacobs

Chris Jacobs is a native San Diegan, with close ties throughout the community. He is a third generation jeweler, having grown up in the business his grandfather founded in downtown San Diego in 1937. Chris worked in the store throughout high school and received his Graduate Gemologist degree in residence from the Gemological Institute of America in 1977. He has over thirty-five years experience in the jewelry industry.

While a member of the American Gem Society, he attained the titles of Registered Jeweler, Certified Gemologist and was one of the first three Certified Gemologist Appraisers in the San Diego area.

Chris spent six years traveling throughout the United States purchasing and reselling estate jewelry, watches and sterling flatware and hollowware.

He is currently a Senior Certified Member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, a Senior Accreditied Gemologist with the Accredited Gemologists Association, on the Board of Governors of the Accredited Gemologists Association and has a Certified Gemological Laboratory with the Accredited Gemologists Association.
